Dear Lord,
Thank you for a brilliant sunny afternoon
As the butterflies glide from flower to flower
They do it pairs
They may look alike from a distance
But no two of them are the same
The flowers
On whose nectar they feed
And of whose pollen they carry
Are brightly colored and patterned
They too may look similar from afar
But no two species are the same
This morning
You blessed the day with rain
And as the showers subsided
And the cloudy skies glittered into blue ones
The beautiful rapid transition from dark to light
Reminded me that no two hours are the same
As we bid winter snowflakes goodbye
The flowers blossom this season
The breezy weather blow away
The pains of yester year
And each day of the month
Is gay and expectant
So I lay rest assured
That no two seasons are the same
For the rest of the year,
May I appreciate the gift of family,
Friends and loved ones
With whom you have blessed me
And as I interact daily in life
Let me never forget
That no two creatures are the same
That no two cultures are the same
That no two lovers are the same
That no two religions are the same
That no two political parties are the same
That no two politicians are the same
And ultimately,
That no two individuals are the same
Because you choose to run the earth this way
Even as I type my message,
No two of these fingers you have given me
Are the same
So as I pray,
May I choose these words
That express my gratitude
For the gift of life to you
Right
Because not even words
Have any two of them the same.
Amen.
